Through a goldmine of photographs, interviews and never-before-seen footage, Gibney unravels the many iconic moments, from Simon & Garfunkel’s early days to their reunion concert in front of 750,000 people in Central Park. ‘In Restless Dreams’ is the portrait of Paul Simon he has always deserved. 8.8要从何说起好？这永远是写曲时最重要的问题。我要的声音是什么？就如那老套的笑话，吉他手花半辈子帮吉他调音，剩下半辈子吉他弹走音；我做了一个梦，梦里说「你会写出一首歌，叫《诗篇七首》」我已经有好几年没写歌了，也没想过要写。那梦境太清晰了，我睡醒后做了笔记，完全搞不懂是什么意思。可是慢慢的，讯息越来越多。我往往尽量让音乐流动，是那种流动的感觉让人坠入梦中。如果你愿意进入梦境空间，便能放下批判思考。就像在冥想，进入脑海的思绪会变得纯粹。因为这旋律是梦到的，我很有耐心去做这段音乐。每周有两三天我会在凌晨醒来，脑海浮现歌词便写下来。我心想一切顺其自然，它会自己出现，我只需要等待灵感，把祂当作自己要处理的资讯。尤其这歌是讲精神层面的，本来就不会太轻松，本该历经险阻，才能对自己的表述有更深的体会。

无论从纪录片、音乐片角度，都是一部完美的电影，3个半小时，也不是一般音乐爱好者能坚持下来的。85岁的保罗西蒙，无疑是人类历史上最伟大的音乐家之一，Still Crazy After All These Years。

Graceland从倒数45分钟开始（整个三小时多）。讲到Rhythm of the Saints结束，其实后面还有Capeman音乐剧这个很多话题的内容可以讲。整体穿插2021年新作叙述。Simon & Garfunkel的纠葛占了很大的篇幅，并没有更深入。以前最热衷这些音乐的时候的我和现在很不一样，现在回顾了这么多耳熟的音乐。I love Graceland even more. 个人觉得Paul Simon is always a little bit political但出发点都是他想要用音乐表达而不是从政治出发。然而还是受不了Edie Brickell比他小20多岁。即使两人现在都年纪大了也感觉60不到和80多差距太大

关于paul simon可聊得太多了，比如那一段神秘的曼陀林声既可以是【忧郁河上的金桥】的结尾，也可以是【el condor pasa】的前奏。其实paul对南美音乐的涉猎从双人组时期就开始了，如今想来90年代对paul simon，david byrne，peter gabriel这三位过于苛责了。另外就是白人不写福音歌曲倒也罢了，写成的三首歌都成了世界级金曲：忧郁河上的金桥，U2的我没找到我想要的，blur的tender。黑人兄弟不服不行啊。
