《保留地之犬》主创Sterlin Harjo参与剧本的电影，在比较流水线的励志体育喜剧下加入了原住民的设定；像是在比赛时用纳瓦霍语作为对手不能察觉到的“秘号”，仪式、精神等习俗对于大家的影响。整体下来的感觉很流畅，但剥离那些独特的文化元素，又觉得不过是一个普通不过的故事。

探讨的问题都不深，家庭，原住民的生活，本地经常性有人离开，篮球战术等。开局的胜利我们可以理解为有实力，然后有人离开，意志消沉活的九连败，然后赶羊（团队精神回归），然后密语篮球战术，获得十连胜……大起大落得让人经不起推敲。成败，友谊都在表面。
